Heavy Equipment Technician - Full-time Permanent

We are looking for a highly motivated self-starting Red Seal Technician to join our growing Repair and Maintenance team based in Stellarton, Nova Scotia.

Qualifications:

Crushing Superintendent - Full-time Permanent

Position Summary

The Crushing Superintendent oversees, manages, and coordinates crushing operations including the safe and efficient production of high quality aggregate materials.  The position requires a strong background in aggregate production, organizational abilities, leadership abilities and a commitment to safety and environmental compliance.

 Key Responsibilities

 Supervision & Leadership:

  • Manage, lead, and coordinate teams of foremen, operators, mechanics and support staff involved in crushing operations
  • Lead and participate in meetings and briefings
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members
  • Work with managers, foremen, operators, mechanics, and support staff to avoid and resolve personnel issues
  • Monitoring of required quarry inventories and planning of screen changes or crusher moves as required to meet those requirements
  • Coordinate with quarry foreman to plan and initiate quarry development including clearing, grubbing and blasting
  • Review of resumes, interviews and hiring to fill vacant positions

Operational Management:

  • Oversee daily crushing operations to ensure production targets and quality standards are met
  • Monitor and adjust crushing processes to optimise efficiency and reduce downtime.
  • Solve problems and take corrective action when required
  • Coordinate with the Construction Division, including maintenance and quality control, to ensure seamless operations

 Safety & Compliance:

  • Enforce safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all employees
  • Conduct regular safety meetings and audits, addressing any potential hazards or concerns promptly
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and company policies
  • Liaise with consultants, suppliers and other vendors

Equipment & Maintenance:

  • Ensure daily maintenance and repair of crushing equipment is being performed to minimize operational disruptions and ensure optimum equipment utilization
  • Work closely with the maintenance team to develop and follow a preventive maintenance schedule
  • Manage equipment inventory and ensure necessary parts and supplies are available
  • Liaise with suppliers and other vendors

Quality Control:

  • Monitor aggregate quality and ensure it meets or exceeds industry standards and customer specifications
  • Implement and manage quality control procedures, addressing any issues that arise promptly
  • Liaise with customers, suppliers and other vendors

 Reporting & Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate records of production metrics, equipment performance and maintenance activities
  • Prepare and submit regular reports on operational performance, including production quantities, safety incidents and maintenance issues

Qualifications

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor degree or higher in Engineering, Mining or a related field an asset

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in aggregate production or a related field with at least 5 years in a supervisory role
  • Proven experience in managing crushing operations and teams

Crusher Foreman - Full-time Seasonal

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the crushing spread, including maintenance, health & safety, screen changes, crusher moves, etc.
  • Lead and motivate the crusher crew
  • Work with the Crushing Superintendent to meet schedule targets
  • Manage repairs and maintenance of machinery during crushing season; for larger repairs coordinate with the Crushing Superintendent and Maintenance staff

Quarry Foreman Troy, Inverness County Location - Full-time Seasonal

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will work with our Crushing Superintendent to manage the overall operations of the quarry, such as:

  • Operation of the quarry loader to load trucks or move oversize as required
  • Weighing of trucks and issuing weigh tickets using our scale house software
  • Regular quarry inspections to ensure safe working conditions
  • All aspects of health & safety for our employees and anyone else on the quarry site
  • Communication with our Maintenance staff for any maintenance and repairs of company equipment
  • Monitor and communicate with the Crushing Superintendent on inventory levels and customer requirements
  • Ensuring compliance with all environmental requirements (In coordination with the Crushing Superintendent)
  • Monitor the requirement for pit development and communicate with the crushing Superintendent

Asphalt Roller Operator

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day operations of the asphalt roller, including maintenance
  • Work as part of a team under supervision of the Paving Foreman and/or Paving Superintendent
  • Complete daily inspections of the paver and complete daily equipment checklist
  • Other duties as required
